The Career Exploration course offered by UAHuntsville assists students in identifying their interest, abilities, values and personality traits as they relate to the selection of both course of study and career opportunities. In this course, which is taught each Spring term, students also learn to apply effective job search skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • Describe the process of career development.
  • Have an increased understanding of themselves.
  • Discuss the role that their self concept plays in career decision making.
  • Have an increased understanding of potential careers.
  • Narrow down their career interests to a few options worthy of continued exploration.
  • Describe the role that their work related and core life values play in career decision making.
  • Discuss the numerous resources available to them for engaging in career exploration.
  • Explain why career decision making is considered a life-long process.
